R.J. Decker is a disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con who starts over as a private investigator in the colorful-if-crime-filled world of South Florida. The series follows him tackling cases that range from slightly odd to outright bizarre with the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife and a shadowy new benefactor -- a woman from his past who could be his greatest ally -- or his one-way ticket back to prison.

Though it’s certainly possible Speedman will grow into the part as the season progresses, he comes off as simultaneously too sweaty and too clean-cut in the early going. Go to Full Review

Though the show’s structure is rather run-of-the-mill despite some very bizarre crimes, the characters keep this series buoyant. Go to Full Review

This offbeat, crime-solving dramatic comedy features a man who's trying to find justice for deserving people in his own way while celebrating some of the distinct (and often downright strange) vibes Florida is known for. Go to Full Review

Whether or not R.J. Decker becomes a long-lasting standout in the genre à la Burn Notice remains to be seen. There was nothing in the premiere that made it stand out to me. Go to Full Review

Once the awkwardness of setting up R.J. Decker‘s puzzle pieces ends, we see the potential for it to be a fun, quirky case-of-the-week detective series that will concentrate on its characters’ stories as much if not more than the weekly case. Go to Full Review

Kem M @Kemari79 1d The humor is subtle but clever enough that you don't get bored. The dynamics with the characters work and it's just funky enough (Florida style) that it isn't the same ol' same ol'. It's like Magnum PI meets Two and a Half Men (Charlie Sheen style). Or better yet, if like Lethal Weapon and Three's Company had a baby and made a little baby TV show. I'm already rooting for RJ and his wacky band of misfits. And the fact that there's good music and great sneaky little jokes make it worth it. See more Damian A @TalkTeaV 1d R.J. Decker has a great crew and the perfect Florida setting for a detective show. It reminds me of a mix between Magnum P.I., with that sunny private eye vibe, and Burn Notice, where a guy who lost his job helps out regular people while dealing with local crooks. If the leads keep hitting it off like they are now, we might even get some of that Moonlighting energy in the next few episodes. See more D S @DSONDOR 3d You can squawk about the differences between CBS, NBC, and the usual garbage that ABC churns out (hello The Rookie) but I was pleasantly surprised at a few things: chiefly that Scott Speedman is some guy who has been around for years but off my radar and that he's not half bad. I normally don't like nonsense like private Detectives getting into Police business and then one upping them but this made sense. And I like the one and done aspect, every episode a solved case, little to no story arc. Fine by me. One of the biggest issues I have with episodic television is all the attempts at me caring about their ancillary relationships and worries and all that side garbage. I loved Breaking Bad beyond measure but hated the Skylar and family moments and made me want to fast forward. In retrospect I realized how important they were but I just wanted more Heisenberg and less Walter White. R. J. Decker is just the right amount of badgood greasy wannabe. So far, so not too shabby. See more Ney M @Ney_Mau 4d Lighthearted and fun. I’ve been a fan of Scott Speedman since his 'Felicity' days; this is a total departure for him and it’s great to see. Can't wait for more episodes to see where he takes the character. Great chemistry among the cast See more Jeanne H @Katbratt 5d I am a huge fan of Scott and I found it very entertaining. I think it will be more of a hit if his character isnt such loser to put it mildly. I have no idea what the books read but I hope he eventually clears his name or gains recognition and respect. Living in his exes poolhouse after a trailer park just seems depressing. I still enjoyed it because of the actors. I hope it becomes a fan favorite as Im rooting for them. See more P C @Pauliiiiii 6d Loved it!!! Good action mixed with humour…this is gonna be a good one!! Love the "Wish" character!!!! See more Read all reviews
