02/06/2021 Surely there a lot of quality work has been done and it is also educational but there are some obvious incredible mistakes that should not happen! 1) Horse stirrups were invented when the roman empire was already a distant memory. That is why cavalary was never a crucial part of any army at that time 2) The "gladio" was a short sword and was used as a piercing weapon, it ws surely not wielded like a scimitar or as a tennis racket. 3) Romans used to crucify people, that is true. But it was not the hand which was pierced by the nail; it was hammered below the wrist, otherwise the soft tissues of the hand would have given way and fred the poor sod much ahed of time. I am not really a scholar so I am sure that there is much more. If you spend millions of USD to create such a complex artwork, WHY DID YOU NOT CONSIDER TO ASK SOME ADVICE TO COMPETENT PEOPLE? See more 01/26/2021 Awful series, historically inaccurate, visually boring See more Emilio T @MilloTPue 09/30/2020 It has some historical inaccuracies which should not be admitted in such a production. See more 06/03/2020 It is an absolute dumpster fire. It is depicted as a hybrid-documentary and dramatic reenactment, but the faux-documentary style lends it some sense of false credibility. Where it is not historically inaccurate (which is often), it takes liberties with events that gives a false historical impression. They couldn't even get the date Caesar died correct!. The shoestring budget they were operating under may be at fault, as they apparently didn't use fact-checkers, editors—or more than a handful of actors, as when they needed large set piece battle scenes they just cribbed 1970's-era movie scenes featuring famous Roman battles. Very strange. They tried to compensate for historical inaccuracies by throwing a couple of breasts into episodes—a transparent attempt to compensate for the poor quality. It was a complete waste of time, and viewers are generally dumber for watching it. If you are interested in Roman history, listen to Mike Duncan's ‘History of Rome' podcast instead.
