To be clear, Lower Decks found its confidence and its vision a long time ago, and has largely stuck to it. But now... the show is proving again that it itself still has things to learn -- the maturity to acknowledge when it’s screwed up, as well.

It maintains decent momentum throughout while deftly balancing pivotal Mariner moments. Sure, this outing is definitely more story-driven than anything, but Mariner’s development works well to break up some of the action.
