David K @RT01017531 10/07/2024 Imagine a pretty well-thought and exciting series of books. Then you take one of them, create a series out of it, name it after this first book, but you only take three out of six episodes to tell the story of the first book (very superficially) and then go over to the second book WITHIN the first season itself, again to tell the second book's story insanely superficially. I mean the whole forensic anthropology thing just feels like they HAD to implement it, but not giving it much love or thought. Most characters you dont even get to know a tiny bit. Instead, the protagonist keeps having flash backs of his dead wife and daughter about 10 times per episode, it is absolutely exhausting. This opus just spoiled Simon Becket for me. I don't understand what happened to the protagonist's family, I don't understand what exactly transpired between the killer and their last(?) victim. Who the hell killed Maggie? Why did it end the way it did? I'm lost. If it had an actual ending, I would've loved it, but the way it ends, I wish I'd skipped it. What was the job he had before??? Unfortunately the producers, writers and director behind those 6, oder are their 8 episodes - did a terrible job in adapting the novel(s). Utter failure with no hope for a second season (thank God) See more Read all reviews
