Paul Carr

Trekkies will forever remember Paul Carr as the ill-fated Lt. Lee Kelso in the pilot for "Star Trek." But the classic sci-fi series was one of roughly 150 television shows and movies--his big screen debut was in Alfred Hitchcock's 1957 drama "The Wrong Man"--that Carr appeared in during his lengthy acting career. Carr originally wanted to be a musician, but his father's glowing review of Paul's performance in a high school play made the younger Carr consider acting. He studied at the American Theatre Wing in New York City, remaining there for six years. He performed in summer stock, Broadway plays, and live television. When acting jobs were sparse, Carr worked as a window dresser. Aside from his extensive background on the big and small screens, Carr appeared in nearly 100 stage productions ranging from Broadway to regional theaters nationwide. In 1987, Carr received the L.A. Weekly Award for Best Actor in the Theatre East production of "Manhattan Express" and a 1995 Dramalogue Award for the Los Angeles Repertory production of "Assassins."
