Bon Iver

A multitalented singer-songwriter who achieved international success on his own terms, Justin Vernon was best known as Bon Iver, a one-man band that eventually grew to include additional members. His debut album, 2008's For Emma, Forever Ago, was written in the wintry seclusion of a Wisconsin cabin, and earned stellar critic reviews across the board. Characterized by his layered falsetto vocals, poetically obtuse lyrics and melancholy air, the Bon Iver sound began to capture the mainstream public's imagination as well. He contributed the song "Rosyln" to "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" (2009) soundtrack and released the EP Blood Bank, which inspired Kanye West to collaborate with him on West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Buoyed by his success, Vernon's follow-up, 2011's Bon Iver, proved his most ambitious, successful and critically acclaimed album to date, earning him four Grammy nominations, of which he scored two. His third album, 2016's 22, A Million found the singer/songwriter exploring a more electronic and experimental sound. Happy to write, record, produce and perform his own music without compromise as well as collaborate with like-minded compatriots, Justin Vernon's Bon Iver continued to follow his own unique, wistfully elegant muse.
