A veteran film and TV actor, Lew Brown has over 100 credits in his career. Known as a character actor, the Oklahoma native received his start in the early days of television, appearing mostly in Westerns such as "The Virginian," "Rawhide," and"Have Gun -- Will Travel." His longest association was with the long-running series "Gunsmoke," making guest appearances on over 20 episodes from 1956 until 1974. He also played multiple roles on several high-profile anthology shows of the 1960s such as "Twilight Zone" and "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour." Brown also appeared in several films in the 1960s and 1970s, including big-budget productions such as Alfred Hitchcock's "Topaz" and the disaster flick "Airport." As the trend in TV moved away from Westerns and toward detective and police dramas, Brown continued to work, appearing on popular crime dramas such as "Columbo," "Mannix," and "McCloud." He had longer associations with the family drama "The Waltons" and the suspenseful "Emergency!" in the 1970s. He continued working throughout the 1980s on television films and TV series including three episodes of the primetime soap "Dallas."
