In this offbeat comedy-drama, a Minnesota farmer (Charles Durning) is seriously injured in a farming accident and compels his eldest daughter Kate (Jessica Lange) to return home from New York to help out. This film was the directing debut of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Sam Shepard.
