This is the most heartwarming and enjoyable of Lucille Ball's feature films since at least 1950. Ball and Fonda (previously paired in "The Big Street" back in the 1942) have great chemistry and the light comedy artistry that make this a truly wonderful family film. Story writers, (Madelyn Davis and Bob Carroll Jr. ) also wrote for I Love Lucy television series, knew how to play to her strengths, but stopped short of the Lucy slapstick she is known for. Both lead actors play their roles credibly with light humor. And, we are reminded how much potential Fonda had for comedy, utilized so little in the latter part of his career. If you want a nice, warm enjoyable movie night, this one is ageless and bound to please! See more 12/03/2020 A classic that should never have been a remake. See more Robbie K @RT50853010 08/03/2019 Lucille Ball ran Desilu Productions and under Lucy's tenure the studio reached its zenith with Star Trek, Mission Impossible and Mannix, all big TV hits. Ms. Ball found a property Lucy developed at Desilu that would turn out to be a smash hit and as Desilu's Yours Mine and Ours became the biggest film hit of her great career and a big moneymaker for Desilu and its distributor United Artists.Lucille Ball recruited Melville Shavelson as Director and Henry Fonda and Van Johnson as co stars and this is a wonderful family fun. I particularly liked the fact that Yours Mine and Ours showed the Navy in such a favorable light. Lucille Ball should have been nominated for an Oscar for her fine performance. Fonda is as always very fine.Soon after this film, and with Desilu Productionsat its peak, Lucille Ball folded Desilu into Paramount. BOTTOM LINE: A fun family-based comedy featuring two of Hollywood's true legends.
