Great adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel. Some of the cells from the novel are taken and put directly on the screen. Gerard Butler does an excellent job as Leonidas and the rest of the 300 cast were also built like and acted like imposing Greek gods. Great stylistic action sequences and camera work by Zack Snyder. Not to be missed!

"This is Sparta!" 300 is a testosterone filled male fantasy war epic from director Zack Snyder. Based on a Frank Miller graphic novel, the story is a fictional account of an ancient battle in which three hundred Spartan warriors fought to hold off the Persian army from conquering Greece. In the mist of the blood and the carnage, with the music pumping, it's hard not to get swept up by the action. And, the rousing speeches about fighting for freedom and honor are inspiring. Also, the powerhouse performances of Gerard Butler and Lena Headey bring a lot of charisma to the film. But Miller screws things up by mixing fantasy creatures into this gritty war tale; and the makeup effects are rather gruesome. There's also some needless sexual gratuity. While 300 is amazingly powerful, it's also uneven and overproduced at times.

Visually impressive with a great story. Not much can be said for the acting -- but it ain't that kind of film.
