First-time director Ryan Coogler chose to tell Grant's story as a narrative instead of a documentary to centre his voice and his life, in the process raising important questions about police brutality and the value of black lives. Go to Full Review

Fruitvale Station offers no social remedies, but by recreating Grant's final hours, it actualizes him as a man, not just a rally cry. Go to Full Review

While Fruitvale Station is elevated by Jordan's portrayal, the supporting cast, whose characters surround Oscar even during his most internal struggles, is also magnetic to watch. Go to Full Review

Coogler’s Fruitvale Station is less about American violence and more about American vulnerability. Specifically, the lack thereof. Go to Full Review

Minus a few small stumbles, which can be expected from a first time filmmaker, “Fruitvale Station” is still an emotionally powerful film that puts a spotlight on an unfortunate tragedy. Go to Full Review

Shannon P 15h Heartbreaking true story See more @BadGoodClothing 3d Man.. wow!!! Glad I caught this in theaters or I wouldnt have finished it if I tried to watch it at home. Powerful and sadly so relatable. So many of us experienced this story in real time. Its so sad man. See more Ben W 4d This was heartbreaking to watch. They really captured the life of a regular person struggling in the city and captured the tragedy of this event. My thoughts are with the family and friends. See more Kenneth P Feb 22 Powerful movie that unfortunately portrays a true story. Very well acted. Felt like I was apart of his journey and crew. Was moved to tears towards the tragic end See more Animations Q @Taylor37 Jan 3 I love this film. Was so well chosen I honestly don't even know what to say, the acting felt so real it legit made me cry. I don't know if it's because I watched on January 2nd or what, but I literally had to stop what I was doing and just watch. I never do that. I just put on a movie and do a million different things in the background, but this time I found myself seated, and LOCKED IN. There were so many moments in the night where he could just have gone home and I don't know if I love or hated that it was and even his choice it was everyone around him his mother suggested he take the train even though hesitant he listened his asked his girlfriend if they can just stay home with their daughter she wanted to go out and insisted and look what happened that part hit me hard. This movie was legitimately so good I don't think it's one of those movies you rewatch 1000 times because it's too impactful this is a one time watch and I suggest going in completely blind.
