Movie Info

The story of biblical figure Jacob is told in this made-for-cable TV-movie. Matthew Modine stars as Jacob, the man who deceived his family and cheated his brother Esau (Sean Bean) out of his birthright. Thinking he could flee from his brother's wrath, Jacob mistakenly threw himself into years of struggle, and when he and his brother were finally reunited, he learned a valuable lesson about forgiveness.

Audience Reviews for Jacob

This film brought to us by TNT is from the Bible Collection. I have read that Ted Turner despite all rumors brought us ( Us being people in the United States) the bible collection because of his strong belief in Christianity. This is the biblical story of Jacob, though I can find no information on what bible this story is based on. Be it King James, New Hope etc. The movie starts when Esau sells his birthright to his twin brother Jacob for a bowl of pottage (red lentil stew), and then gets deceived out of his father's blessing by his mother Rebekah. I believe here the bible teaches us about deception, as later Jacob is deceived at his wedding. Made in 1994 watching the movie I felt it was older then that. Not the very best movie I have seen from the Bible collection, but I will give it 3 Stars.

½

Very well acted movie and a klot shorter than most bible stories that were made into movies. Pretty good movie, with a decent dramatic story as well.
