There are some decent PG-rated thrills and scares for the preteen audience, but adults are unlikely to find it especially convincing, with clunky dialogue and a generic score letting down a solidly traditional spooky mystery.

A throw back to the teenage paranormal thrillers of the 1980s and 1990s. It works but is it what audiences of today want? The one thing that is clear though is that Mason Thames is going to be star.

Some supporting acting was weak. Parts of plot were ridiculous, but common in scary movies. Mel Gibson was good as usual. There were a few gotcha jump in your seats scenes. I was hoping for a 3 star movie, but it was pretty weak.

Great movie and great co-viewing (parent and preteen) experience. The film is part adventure, part mystery and includes Halloween jump scares. Cast is Excellence. Will be one of the films played annually during October!

Great movie for the Halloween season! Not too scary, my 9yo loved it, but enough thrill and mystery that my middle schooler was also fully invested. And I thoroughly enjoyed having an engaging movie to watch with my kids that wasnt animated! A win all around!
