Great movie for rajini
Vintage rajini is back
Typical revenge movie. The way the main villian is killed is too simplistic. Making him bed ridden makes the villain so weak and there is no thrill In the most important part of the film. Thankfully the climax twist and the twist before the climax compensates, in what I could have called the worst film I had ever seen!
We get to see the good old Rajnikanth, who is good as the hostel warden and in the saavu scene of the flashback. But the weak revenge spoils the show. Only the scene at the marriage works.
A Treat For Fans Of The Star Makes You Wish It Had Also Been One For Fans Of The Director.
A formulaic Rajini movie with lots of cliches, underused actors, irrelevant subplots and a post-flashback drag which is exhausting.
Best Rajinikanth movie In recent times..
Indian kids born in the 2000 era definitely grew up watching a handful of powerful Salman, Sharukh, Aamir, Vijay & Ajith movies which led them to fancy one of the "mentioned names" big time. And these kids couldn't have missed the name SUPERSTAR-RAJINIKANTH either, which led a good percentage of them seeing RAJINI as a respected seasoned king who's prowess are left sealed in a bag called 1990's. Yeah, THALAIVAR did some fine films which raked in the racks-$ in 2005, 2007, 2010 & 2018 but did every piece of his (50 calibur slug) strike right through everyone's heart & head? Answer, just close enough. That's when the dirty politics in Indian Cinema started tittle-tattling:- "Rajini might fall & his time is no more!"
As these hypocrites were about to start their perfidy-party, the greatest Indian actor-entertainer "SUPERSTAR-RAJINI" comes storming in their jamboree, hollering:- NAAN VILTHETEN'NE NINAITHAIYO? hahahaha, PETTAPARAAK! Well, a huge huge thanks to the genius Karthik Subbaraj for showcasing the 90's (RAJINI x 2) in Petta. This man RAJINI proved why he's the greatest there was, there is & there will be in Indian Cinema. Without a single doubt, Petta will ignite a whole new level of love, respect & adore for SUPERSTAR among today's millennial kids. Every kid & adult will be 100% RAJINIFIED when the end credit starts rolling! Well, it's not easy for any actor at the age of 69 to go toe to toe with younger, stronger powerhouse performers & shine, but RAJINI didn't just shine, he flaired-up like the sun in every single frame only to reign untouchable. Mark this point, THALAIVAR's fiery action sequences + (A+) climax performance where he ensnares Jithu as his son & later puts him to rest with a kutti kathai, will be talked about for another 3 generation least!
Also i must say, (Vijay Setupathi - fantabulous Hindi intonation) & (Nawazuddin Siddiqui - little off on the lip sync part, technical side weakness. Not a big deal) were both memorably fiendish to the core & they were at their best. Rest of the cast, Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Mahendran, Guru Somasundram & Chinni Jayanth, all had appropriate portions in this dark & exuberant revenge operation plot. Now with the list of extra performers placed to perfection accordingly, all you need is a cohesive plot stretched with a fantastic screenplay, picturesque cinematography & some cool ephoric BGM+songs. Result, an epic film! And that's exactly what Karthik Subbaraj, with the aid of Thirunavukarasu & Anirudh churned out. This revenge oriented action drama had one of the finest screenplay, cinematography & BGM for a 2hrs 52mins film which got us all RAJINIFIED!
it is a proper Rajini film. i loved it. must watch, won't disappoint you.
Petta awesome movie I've seen this year
One of best Rajani movies in resent time. A treat for Thaviva fans
Excellent! Better than Kaala,Kabali,2.0. He really proved himself
