Movie Info

Produced in New Zealand and set in its capital city of Wellington, this comedy-drama plunges into a web of romances, sexual entanglements and breakups among a group of affluent yuppies. At the center of the tale are Simon (Joel Edgerton) and Pam (Danielle Cormack), a thirtysomething married couple drowning from the lack of intimacy in their nuptial relationship. Unfortunately, in lieu of trying to fix the situation, Simon leaps into the arms and bed of Katrien, a gorgeous cellist who is already married to Klaus (Thomas Kretschmann). Meanwhile, Klaus's buddy Keith teaches a course that involves instructing his male pupils on what it means to be a man. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

Some great moments of comic timing provide for a pleasant, if flawed, bittersweet comedy of errors.

Despite rough patches, this film delivers a surprisingly absorbing take on the romantic misadventures of a group of thirtysomethings.

The film's shifting, unsettled tone makes it less than satisfying, even while admiring some its strengths. Sex is ever present, and not always to the film's advantage

Audience Reviews for Separation City

I'm a sucker for drama comedies like this, so I really enjoyed it, and I loved the cast. Not the most original story in the world - at times it feels like a comedic version of 'We Don't Live Here Anymore' - but that doesn't stop it from being a good film.

Better than 3 stars, but not by much. It's pretty much just about a bunch of guys cheating on their wives, which makes it hard to relate to most of the characters. There's some comedy intertwined...
