Movie Info

Milo is a kitten, Otis is a dog. When Milo gets into a small box with the intention of taking a trip down a river, Otis follows. En route, the stars encounter bad weather, life-threatening situations, and even potential mates. Original made for Japanese TV under the title Koneko Monogatari, The Adventures of Milo and Otis contained some intense scenes that were edited out for Western audiences. For American consumption, the film was pared down to a G-rated 75 minutes, with a new comic narration added, written by Mark Saltzman and delivered by Dudley Moore. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Remember watching this as a kid, so, I had to give it another shot, since I'm a dog lover. This film is such a classic movie for young kids, the narrator had me in tears at some of the hilarious energetic outbursts he had for some of the scenes. Epic storytelling, and i've heard they shout over 42 hours of footage to put this story together?! thats mad dedication and, it was originally written in Japanese!!

"The Adventures of Milo and Otis" is a cute and kid friendly film, despite rumors of animal abuse on the part of the Japanese. This was another film I liked when I was a child and it nostalgic to revisit it years later. While not a masterpiece the movie is a fun and entertaining small scale story about the cat Milo and Pug Otis and their misadventures. The film took four years to make due to the various scenes needed and the hard to capture reactions of the animals involved. This is one you can watch with children and I'm sure one of the many I'll show my children one day.

Nothing like watching cute animals getting killed on screen by Japanese for American kicks. Still, first movie I ever cried in. I soothed myself by saying it was movie tricks, but upon re-watching they totally just freaking slaughtered lots and lots of puppies and kitties.
