The result is predictable: Rovira's film highlights the talent for set pieces more than the narrative muscle. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

'The Influence' does not start badly, but then it makes too many mistakes along the way, complicating enough that you can't take it seriously. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The director seldom manages to gather, either in a narrative form or in the aesthetic or interpretive, the ghostly element of the film. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

With few exceptions, the post-REC Spanish horror film continues to stumble. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

farah r @Farah 05/31/2021 The most agonizing hour and forty minutes of my life. See more 11/02/2020 A meandering path through a thin plot doesn't live up to a promising trailer. Except for a few good scares, there's isn't much to keep your interest. See more 06/22/2020 Loved it. Scary, creepy, beautiful, and well acted. Super good movie to be honest but i am a sucker for this type of movie See more 05/16/2020 One jump scare. Crappy plot. Good for someone who hates being scared during a scary movie though. See more 05/09/2020 La influencia could have been fantastic. The actors are perfect, the sounds and music are fitting, the creepy old house works, and the stories theme is brilliant. So what happened? You know why the mother is evil; check. You understand why the house is delipidated; check. You understand why people are in or around the home; check. You know why the young child is fearless; X, nope, no we don't. What moves the movie is the relationship between the granddaughter and the grandmother. This relationship doesn't make sense and is not well developed. The relationship also changes but it is unknown why. We the audience is left trying to understand what is going on with the two and why. I remember my cousin and I being alone at the house, it was dark, and we heard a noise, we thought it was a ghost and ran out of the housing until our legs felt like they may give. When we looked back, we saw a cat also running from the house. We walked back to the house, realizing the ghost was a cat just as scared as we were. This film had a 10-year-old girl who was trapped in her grandmother's room and was mildly injured in the commotion but then she goes back to visit her grandmother willingly and without fear. What?! Why? We get it, the film isn't real and we need the plot to be moved along but I expect it to be realistic. The granddaughter's behavior was inconsistent and hard to believe. Then we get a predictable ending, which is a minor inconvenience. The reason why is because any ending you conceive of has been done before. If we had an alternate ending, it wouldn't be anything new. While endings are important, predictability isn't the problem. It is giving us a close to a chapter that is satisfying. The close isn't satisfying because we don't know why we've gotten this far to begin with. What is the point? Overall, the film is decent, slow but easy to watch. The scenes at times were a little dark. The direction the film went was convoluted but not to the point where you are completely lost. What I took from the film is, trust your instincts. If someone shows you the type of person they are, believe them. Take people for who they are and not for who you want them to be. See more Jørn H 05/06/2020 Have seen better movies.
