It straddles old and new: a sophisticated, fashionable protagonist who lives a modern urban life yet are is drawn back to the family manor where paintings of the dead keep the past around as if haunting the place.
What's the difference between a well made giallo, and any other mindless slasher flick? Many for sure, but the main difference to me at least is very simple: while the second wants to pile up corpses as quick as possible, a good giallo makes sure that every death is memorable. There's of course the music, the camera, the settings, and the gorgeous women that you will only find in a giallo. The red queen embodies all these aspects pretty well, and yes, the jumps of logic in the plot as well. The thing is, i was so interested in what was going on, that i didn't mind so holes here and there in the script. At the end, that's what a good giallo can do, it will seduce your senses, without having to insult your intelligence.
"The Red Queen Kills Seven Times" is a sophisticated, sexy, stylish Giallo with many twists and surprises. It is not as gory as others in the genre but the amount of blood delivered is right. You will enjoy its wonderful colors, the gorgeous women, the clothes, the tasteful decor, the lighting effects and the beautiful soundtrack.
One of the best into the world of giallo.
A really solid example of the giallo genre for all it's positives and negatives.
The story is a little all over the place as is the acting, but there is a ton of style, blood and nudity to help you keep your interest up.
