The artistic finesse of the film leaves, perhaps, just a little bit more to be desired - it's a case of applauding a message more than its overeager medium. Go to Full Review

Although rather a stark morality tale, the short has enough humanity and empathy in it to engage our attention. Go to Full Review

The family is weak, and the supporting cast isn't much of a cast at all. Yes, there's other siblings, but they aren't impressionable or notable in any way. Go to Full Review

Beautifully shot and scored though it is, it's the strength of the writing and Shelton's deeply compassionate performance that really makes this one soar. Go to Full Review

It's an unusual sort of bigotry on display here, one that many of us who aren't personally touched by the issue may not even be aware of. Absolutely heartbreaking. Go to Full Review

Lenny B @RT42701993 14h The Silent Child is a short film that is very powerful and emotional. It is an amazing and thought-provoking drama about communication and deaf education. The film was directed by Chris Overton and written by Rachel Shenton. The plot of the film is a story of Libby a young deaf girl who lives with her hearing family and has a lot of difficulty expressing himself. But a professer named Joanne teach her sign language which helped him to express himself. The acting in the film is natural and very emotional. The story is realistic and moving because it shows the importance of communication and inclusion for deaf children. The ending is heartbreaking but at the end they encourage to help the deaf people to can integrate and don’t fell isolatated See more Mathéo S @RT95069914 16h The Silent Child" is a very emotional short film. It tells the story of a deaf child who has difficulty communicating with other people. Her parents do not really know sign language, so she often feels lonely and misunderstood. Thanks to a young woman who teaches her sign language, she finally starts to understand the world around her and express herself. This film shows that communication is very important for deaf children. It also explains that many deaf children do not receive enough support at school. I found this film sad but also beautiful because it makes people think about inclusion and support for children with disabilities. I recommend "The Silent Child" because it gives a strong and emotional message. See more Nicolas B @Saeiko 1d The Story, Is About a Teacher for deaf kids who’s coming into a family to help, Libby, a deaf little girl not really interactive and shy, but Joanne, the teacher is here to help her and all along the short film Joanne will try to create a friendship with the girl. Will she get what she want? You will need to watch the film to find out how the story goes! The short film use long short but also close shot so we can see all the the expression from the actors wich are playing good and convincing. The casting is so great choose. The plot is not as deep as I expected but he’s not bad neither, he is more for prevention to parents of a deaf kid The musics are well chosen because they’re slow and deep. They giving you goosebumps and makes you feel how deep and sad is the story The visual effect are work to makes you feel sad and serious because almost all the scene where Libby is sad, the colors are dark like grey black or white but when she happy with Joanne, the colors are more brightfull See more Lea C @LeaCaT 1d This film is a drama. It was directed by Chris Overton. The mains actors are Maisie Sly for Libby and Joanne was played by Rachel Shenton. The story takes place maybe in England. It speak about Libby, a little girl who can not hear. His family is always busy so his mother takes a babysitter. The babysitter is Joanne and she will learn sign langage to Libby. They become friends and Libby is going to speak with sign langage. But at the end, parents Libby doesn't want she learn sign langage, that's why they send Libby in a normal school without support in place. The acting is realy good. I hope they used a deaf child to play Libby. The plot is very gripping. I like the story and the plot twist at the end is very emotional. The music play an important role to gives emotions. When they don't speak with sound, the music is calm but not to much. The message at the end is important. You are going to love it. It is an emotional story. See more Amel K @amelkaa 1d The Silent Child is a short movie directed by Chris Overton. The actors playing the maincharacters are Rachel Fielding acting Sue, Rachel Shenton as Joanne amd Maisie Sly as Libby. This film is about a young deaf girl mamed Libby, who can’t speak properly and lives in a very busy family which leaves her with no interaction and being alone most of the time. So her mother, Sue, hired a specialist support to take care of her and teach her lip reading. Her name’s Joanne and she’s a young caring woman. The acting was as good as the plot, the actress playing Sue did good when she was arguing with Paul, Philip York. And Rachel Shenton had facial expressions, almost tricking, almost true. The greyish scenery makes it nostalgic and sadder. I think it’s an extremly moving short movie, with good actors and plot. I highly recommend you to watch it. First of all the movie tells the story of Libby a deaf girl To help her communicate her parents decided to bring everyday Joanne a loving woman all along the movie Joanne learns to Libby sign language and practice by doing activities However sue Libby’s mom wants her to focus on lip reading and send her to school. Libby is obviously going to be rejected because of her difference The plot is deeply moving and though provoking Even if the plot is simple the themes that are used makes the film even harder to watch moreover the ending makes the whole story emotional because sue don’t understand her own deaf girl Overall the movie doesn’t show particularly special effects however the different camera shot See more Read all reviews
