Generally good, but with a few superfluous scenes that dragged on too long. And the humor was at times a bit forced. Otherwise I appreciated the incredibly meta nature of this story.

They could have made this movie a massive fanservice to Nic Cage and I would have been entirely satisfied, and while the fanservice is here, it's actually respectfully restrained for an overall wildly enjoyable bromance action-comedy. Nic Cage and Pedro Pascal both give excellent performances, among their best ever, and their friendship is the heart and soul of the movie. It's meta-humor is charming and it definitively knows the type of movie it is and comments on it, as well as the industry as a whole in a humorous way. If I wish for anything, I guess I wish it was a little funnier. I was chuckling pretty consistently throughout the film, but their were never huge belly laughs for me anyway. Still, it's an immensely charming movie with great leads, charming comedy, and some solid action sequences.

It is occasionally amusing but it really isn't all that original, in fact it is frustratingly predictable. Also, the movie is a little too safe with even Cage's image as a "crazy guy" feeling carefully managed by the movie.
