In 1630 New England, panic and despair envelops a farmer, his wife and their children when youngest son Samuel suddenly vanishes. The family blames Thomasin, the oldest daughter who was watching the boy at the time of his disappearance. This film is a must see for any horror fan. The work put in to recreating 1630s new england is profound. From the language to the life style. The characters are memorable and you really feel their plight as they try to survive day to day 15th century life. No jump scares here. Psychological fear at its best. I highly recommend this film.

This movie was slow and odd. It never gained momentum and fell flat at the end. It would have been more intriguing if the ending was the beginning and built from there.
