Audience Reviews for Thrill of a Romance

Pleasant Esther Williams romance, with the usual mashup of classical and pop music ("I Should Care"), courtesy of producer Joe Pasternak; Met star Lauritz Melchior's feature film debut.

When I think of Ester Williams I think of the water version of a Busby Berkeley musical. Well, not here, and I found Ester Williams not that off as an actor. Actually, enjoyable. I also loved hearing Lauritz Melchior, the opera singer popular in the fifties, and loved by my mother. Worth a rental or an afternoon.

** (out of four) Pretty typical Esther Williams fluff where she falls for a dashing man, played by Van Johnson. Along with a big group of singers and swingers, the group tear it up at Yosemite National Park in California. Nothing too inspiring here.
