Chef Vivian Howard explores farm-fresh cooking, family and community in North Carolina's low country in this half-hour series from South Carolina ETV. Each episode follows Vivian into cornfields, strawberry patches and hog farms as she searches for ingredients for her seasonal menus at her restaurant, Chef & the Farmer, in Kinston, N.C. As the series opens, Vivian and her husband, Ben Knight, find themselves juggling the new restaurant as they raise their twins and build a new home.

05/09/2016 These seasons feature perhaps some of the most alluring and beautiful food story tellers on TV today. Vivian Howard is an amazing communicator and her warmth and glow and passions resonate with every smile. She's no Sandra Lee (thank goodness) and I think Martha could probably take some warmth lessons from Vivian (I think she won the Beard award for best personality--Vivian that is not Martha) If you are a foodie, even if you are not, this show really captures the essence of North Carolina and the saltiness of each of the residents you meet along with a perspective of some ingredients and methods I never knew before. As a former TV Journalist and videographer, the production crew captures the beauty of the area like few cooking shows on TV do. For that matter, many tv shows today lack that cinematography-type beauty A Chef's Life delivers. See more Read all reviews
