Critics Consensus

Catching lightning in a bottle twice thanks to Anthony Norman's charm and the ensemble's delightfully chaotic energy, Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat remains just as funny as it is wholesome.

It comes close to hitting the same nail on the head twice without sacrificing too much of the premise’s heart. Go to Full Review

The new season positions the equally likeable Anthony Norman as a temp at a resort working on an eccentric family company’s increasingly chaotic bonding weekend, but the tone leans too heavily into shock value. Go to Full Review

“Jury Duty,” whose scripts refer to the unsuspecting main character as the “Hero,” is hamstrung by its insistence on protecting its protagonist. Go to Full Review

Though the experiment itself walks the line of ethically questionably, the true beauty of the show is how the subject is truly allowed to be themselves and the good that can come from that. Go to Full Review

I never laugh at television. Ever. Certainly not alone in a room. Yet by the end of episode one I had collapsed into giggles at least five times. Go to Full Review

...the true standout is Anthony Norman, the real person in the center of it all... one of his monikers was "Captain Fun." It was a title that Anthony certainly embraced and his almost unwavering positivity was the most powerful thing ever. Go to Full Review

jerry S @RT97525081 May 29 The filmmakers edited 3,600 hours of time down to a few hours to tell a tight, slapstick story. Lots of talent in front of and behind the cameras. They set up fake websites and a social media presence for the fake company to fool the "hero." Anthony is a stand up guy. Of course, did he know or not know is the big question. Personally, I bet it's legit. See more Jackson M. @Nshvlleindie May 22 Sooooo painfully fake. Season 1 excelled by knowing where the line was and knowing exactly just how silly and looney they could be. Season 2 spirals across that line and acts a fool every constant second without any room to make this situation believable for the “real person.” There’s no way, ever, this guy was a real person and not completely in on the script. See more Andrei D @RT74856639 Apr 22 It's a staggering achievement in terms of production, I would have wrapped it up in six episode and given one more episode to the wrap-up and cast discussions See more Sara D @RT40529722 Apr 21 Need more visibility of the good people still out in the world like this. Funny, heartwarming and hopeful. Hope there is another. Anthony was a true gem. See more Ben N @Bneffer Apr 13 Better than the original. I was prepared for the . Even if everyone was an actor, I was entertained by the show, which was a much bigger production than the original. It could have been a rockumentary sitcom a'la The Office. They built upon the original in creative ways and I was impressed with the production values. In the end, the protagonist drives the drama and the best parts of the comedy of the show. I think seeing how a human heart can react in unselfish and caring ways is important in this era of cynicism and doubt. That said, everyone is lying to the protagonists, so... I'm just glad he felt ok about it. I look forward to the follow up. See more Josh B. @RT04549286 Apr 11 It was soooo good to have this show back! Love the funny moments and wholesome moments! Highkey would’ve fallen for it the entire time like Anthony did See more Read all reviews
