Between sharp writing, a fantastic crop of young actors, and Marc Munden’s masterful direction that captures naive wonder and unspeakable horrors, you’ve never seen this familiar tale quite like this. Go to Full Review
Chris Vognar Boston Globe May 13
The kids are all great, but the standout is McKenna, who turns Piggy into a pitiable hero who finds that sometimes decency simply doesn’t pay. Go to Full Review

It understands why the story has resonated for over 70 years, and become a middle school English class perennial -- and the ways in which it feels especially, unfortunately, timely at the moment. Go to Full Review

It recalls the 1970s film freakouts of directors like Nicolas Roeg (Don’t Look Now, Walkabout) or Ken Russell (Altered States). Take that as a recommendation -- or a warning. Go to Full Review

It was nothing less than a slog to power through these beautiful but uninteresting episodes. Go to Full Review

It may not be perfect, but it’s about as good a cinematic interpretation of this modern classic as we’re likely to see. Go to Full Review

T T @peachpie 1d It was amazing, it had amazing visuals that still keep me up at night. Very impressive acting from the children, the cinematography made me feel like I was going insane along with the kids in a good way. Episodes three and four were very emotional, if you have been thinking about watching this I recommend doing so. See more rsderek81 T. @rsderek81 3d Really well done on all levels! Superb acting. Visceral and tragically beautiful. I have no idea why the audience score is so low. Trust the critics on this one ☝🏼 See more Kit T @Kit1000_1 4d One of the most compelling adaptations I've seen. Incredible cinematography: rich, saturated, highly detailed and dreamlike, throbbing with movement and unseen life. The young actors were great. Mostly naturalistic but adopting the menacing mania easily as they slid into madness. Highly suspenseful. Maybe don't watch right before bed! See more Allan K @Alkot315 Jun 24 The acting was good but that’s about the only good thing I can say about it. Cinematography was awful. So many times I almost stopped watching because all of the choices were annoying. There is probably about 30 minutes of close ups on boys’ faces. Let’s not have any audio and just close ups on faces. A few faces? No every face. That’s not enough let’s show one boy not moving and no sound for 2 full minutes. What does this accomplish? Nothing but it looks cool right? No no it does not. Let’s have crazy color saturation and a fish eye lens. Did we learn any other techniques in film school? Use them all. But it doesn’t add anything to the story. Who cares! It may take forever but it looks cool. Not at all distracting and useless to tell the story. I get they are descending into chaos but these useless techniques started in minute 1. How are critics rating this so high? See more Graham O. @goczki Jun 16 Very interesting to change the original story to make it to this. A ok series with good cinematography and soundtrack but the story is eh. See more Leprechaun K @LeprechaunKing Jun 12 The limited series is awful, poorly written and directed. The pacing is horrendous. What should have been a 90 minutes movie is stretched to 4 hours. The casting of Ralph and other key characters is not great. Only enjoyable character to watch is Simon.
