It understands why the story has resonated for over 70 years, and become a middle school English class perennial -- and the ways in which it feels especially, unfortunately, timely at the moment. Go to Full Review

Some sequences, like the first wild boar hunt, are filmed by Munden in a way that puts you right there with the boys -- and as the boys transform from frightened to feral, it's hard to shake, and to forget. Go to Full Review

Led by an astoundingly talented cast of young actors and brought to life with painterly brushstrokes of vivid color and horrifying imagery, "Flies" is four episodes of captivating, edge-of-your-seat horror. Go to Full Review

A truly disturbing look at how easily society could backslide into primitive savagery if you take away law and order. This series is beautiful, tragic, and absolutely mesmerizing to watch. Go to Full Review

Coen M. @ReviewerC 6h Biggining of first episode seemed like it was going to be bad but keep going it gets better 🙂 See more 丰丰 涂 @RT54594547 6h I love this drama. The bold colors and stunning cinematography stand in stark contrast to the darkness of human nature after being stranded on a deserted island, making the viewing experience absolutely captivating See more Jonathan H @RT66479691 14h I can't say it was an enjoyable watch, but it seemed to stay true to the original novel. Of course, it's been years and years since I read it. The artistry and film locations were very well done, as was the acting of the various boys. Overall, I think it did a decent job at exploring humanity's capacity and magnetism towards various unsavory characteristics, like authoritarianism, tribalism and extremism through cultish group-think. It's definitely not an optimistic view of humanity - LOL... See more Corey H @RT21005721 15h Faithful to the novel and good watch overall. Does act a little too artsy at times and the camera wanders into weird spots and gives long lingering closeups, but I took it as adding tension and creepiness. A lot of bad reviews on here are from people who didn’t make it very far or never read the book. Episode one was slow but stick with it, it definitely picks up steam. See more Eve N @evenicholson101 15h This is one of the best TV adaptations of a classic novel I have seen in a long time! They got everything down to a T! The casting directors never get enough credit in tv or film and are almost pushed to the back of the queue when it comes to the Golden Globes or the BAFTAS, but they have such an important job to find actors who are the best for the job and how to take our own imaginations and put them on the big screen. The young boys in this were absolutely incredible! Each character has their own, unique story line, but at the same time they are all very similar to each other. By far one of the best things I have seen on TV this year that isn't 10,15,20 years old. If you loved the book like I did, I would highly recommend this tv series!! Definitely worth a watch. See more scott C @ScottC706 16h Disappointing writing. I will say the child acting was terrific and the production and visuals were excellent. The problem is that this feels like it was written for someone who already read the book so the writer could add their artistic slant. I did read the book and enjoyed it immensely and was hoping for a modern take. Instead the character development feels unrealistic and rushed. They wake up from the crash and act like it's no big deal. Characters do not behave like real kids would at all. In the book it felt much more believable and realistic. See more Read all reviews
