Cage has enormous fun with all of this but also establishes that his character sometimes is primarily a spider and physicalizes that in a way that's just a riot. If you saw him in "Vampire's Kiss," you're familiar with his brand of unbridled acting.

Nicolas Cage gives a four-star performance in a three-star Spidey-adjacent series that is almost but not quite as gloriously unhinged as he is playing a 1930’s gumshoe who’s 70 percent Humphrey Bogart and 30 percent Bugs Bunny.

Captures the nostalgia of watching noir films, but carries the sensibilities of the present... The few female characters are powerhouses. The racial undertones of the 30s are touched on and navigated. The music is sublime. Nicolas Cage is excellent.

I usually like Nicolas Cage but he didn't really work in this role for me. The show was just OK, nothing great but not horrible. I wouldn't recommend it.

An entertaining, well-written, well-acted, and very fun show. Nicolas Cage shines as the lead, and while he carries the show he is supported by excellent talent and acting contributions from Morris, Li, Rodriguez, and the enigmatic Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane. This show was a ton of fun to watch, and I recommend the black and white version as this really does help bring the tone of the entire show together and really give you the experience that it feels the show's creators intended. Anyway, if you're looking for a new fun show and want to see a Spider Man that drinks and smokes (lol) then this 1930's Noir-style Spidey spin-off certainly does the job with flying colors (unless you watch in black and white)! I give it a 92.5/100.
