Tv Season Info

The legal drama series is a spin-off of "The Good Wife" and takes place about a year after that series ended. Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) is pushed out of her law firm when a scam leaves her broke and ruins the reputation of her goddaughter Maia (Rose Leslie). The two women end up joining Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) at a new firm and together they try getting back on their feet. The first season of the show follows Diane and Maia as they rise through the ranks and rebuild their careers, while also trying to solve the mystery of the case that destroyed their professional and personal lives. The series also serves as commentary to America's contemporary political climate, dealing with issues that go from institutional racism to Trump's election.

All of it is a fight worth fighting, indeed.

The Good Wife always was about reinvention and perseverance, and The Good Fight continues those themes beautifully. It's an excellent series - a perfect sequel.

The best news about The Good Fight is that it takes a character a lot of us have loved for years and challenges her to be better, and less complacent, than she's ever been -- with no guarantee that she'll succeed.

CBS made the first two episodes available for review, and they're both pretty terrific.

Anyone who did love The Good Wife won't regret figuring out how to make this new show a part of their lives. After all, a good show is a good show. And The Good Fight shows no signs of being anything else.

Solid opener, compelling premise, good cast and one major hole.

In the same way that The Good Wife was unafraid to comment on the issues of the day, the sequel The Good Fight takes on the same mantra, with added force.

Mar 12, 2019 | Full Review…

The Good Fight injects just enough hope and levity into its narrative that it isn't purely cynical. It strikes the right balance between being real but also not a total downer.

Back on familiar ground, [co-creators Robert and Michelle King] able to proclaim their liberal agenda within the format of a legal drama.

Not surprisingly, the actress rises to the occasion, thereby confirming what many a Good Wife fan suspected going in: [Christine] Baranski makes a helluva leading lady.

Audience Reviews for The Good Fight: Season 1

Gave it 2.5-- would be 4.5 but this is far too political, multiple times in each episode. It's a good series on it's own, why are you making it a political tool?
  • Jun 24, 2019
We were all ready to watch a good show since everything are reruns. We were looking for, not even 5 minutes, what do we hear? A lot of political crap. Can't any shows be seen without all the political BS anymore? Or is that a rhetorical question? Nope, we won't be watching anymore, first and last time.

Regardless of what these people that call themselves critics say, they don't know what you know and can't speak for you. The truth of what the show is like will become apparent to you regardless of what people say. You are the critic, do not listen to these twats spewing their ignorance to make you believe that what you believe is what they believe. ...so, watch the show or not, but don't listen to other people or you'll find yourself in a situation one day where you'll wish you hadn't listened to another person because you thought that they believed what you believed.

Could have been a decent show, but I stopped watching after a few episodes because of the in-your-face political bias

    Outside the Overton window

Can't get past Rose Leslie and her insipid Maia character. The whole storyline involving her parents was dragged out too long..and her whiny voice just killed this show for me. Let me know when they kill off her character.

It doesn't have that something special that the good wife had, that kept you on the edge of the seat. But it is fun and entertaining and as the good wife, it manages to play with current political developments in an interesting manner. Strong women in the lead is another plus for this show.

Best thing on the tv at the moment
  • Mar 26, 2018
GENIUS WRITING. GENIUS ACTING. GENIUS DIRECTING. EVEN BETTER THAN THE GOOD WIFE
  • Mar 04, 2018
Anyone who has had run in with a lawyer knows that this show is b.s. with that being said, the plot is predictable, characters are strained and the situations are not beliveable. The Big bad mega TV gods have no concept of reality and try to shove this slop at you.
