It’s such an interesting story with insane testimony from Gary/Lucas that entails everything from drug smuggling, faking his own death, working with the CIA to Pablo Escobar. If you enjoy the Reagan war on drugs story then this will definitely interest you. This man has lived a crazy life! See more Christopher M 08/30/2023 This takes far too much effort to keep up with. Too many cute little jumps between the same person years apart, looking different, for example. The whole thing suffers from Billy Pilgrim Effect, it has come unstuck in time, jumping around everywhere. Just because it's unwatchable doesn't make it art. The subject is unlikable, the documentary unlovable. I have a terrific headache now, after only 35 minutes of this. See more 04/24/2022 There is no doubt the framework for an interesting doc exists, and the unique character of Gary Betzner provides a charismatic storyteller, but something about the three hour presentation never felt as compelling as the headline grabbing details of this narrative seemed to promise.
