Plenty of jokes do land... and the cool guest stars should keep fans entertained. It's just not as rude as I remember.

Now in its fifth season, I'm not sure that FXX's The League can surprise me any more in terms of plot, but the witty one-liners have always been where this series is at, anyway.

The best part of the premiere is that Ruxin, who earned the Sacko last year for finishing last, does not want to go along with the Sacko punishments, so he temporarily joins Rafi's Domination League.

It's still a very funny show at times and the premiere tonight produced one of my biggest laughs of the year but the extreme nature of the joke writing starts to wear thin after awhile.

Unfortunately, the fifth season finds the show's writers running on creative fumes.

It's a hit among the obsessive sports/fantasy league fans and a hit to the opposite crowd: people like me who have fallen asleep during football games and picked a fantasy team based on how attractive the players are.

FX/FXX's The League continues to be one of the funniest comedies on television, as well as the best sports show on television. The writing continues to be hilarious, the performances from its cast continues to be funny and spot on, especially Mantzoukas.
