Birthplace: Laguna Beach, California, USA

Charlotte Drury was an American gymnast who entered the history books in 2014 by becoming the first American ever to win gold in the trampoline competition at the Gymnastics World Cup. Born and raised in the seaside community of Laguna Beach, California, Drury's interest in gymnastics began when she was 3. She started practicing the artistic style of gymnastics and became so passionate for it that upon turning 5 she began training professionally at the National Gymnastics Training Center. Drury started competing soon after as an artistic gymnast, but after 10 long years refining her craft, she found that she no longer had an interest in it. No longer having the love for the artistic style but still wanting to compete, Drury shifted her attention to more traditional gymnastics - particularly the trampoline. She started training at Team OC Gymnastics in Orange County and quickly started racking up medals in various national competitions. Her first major accomplishment came in 2013 when, at the age of 16 she became a silver medalist in the trampoline at the Elite Challenge in Texas. With her athletic career on the rise, Drury had an even better 2014. In addition to winning gold at the U.S. Gymnastics Championship in Kentucky, she also became the first American to win gold at the 2014 International Gymnastics World Cup competition in Minsk, Belarus. With the gold medal win she reached a national milestone by becoming the first American to do so in the trampoline competition. With her sights set on qualifying for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Drury continued racking up medals over the next two years, including a 2015 bronze medal win for the trampoline at the USA Gymnastics Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.
