Emmy-nominated producer Dee Johnson began her career in 1991 as an assistant to the producers of the short-lived crime drama "Equal Justice," which featured Jane Kaczmarek and Sarah Jessica Parker. When the show wrapped, she became the assistant to the executive producers of another law drama "I'll Fly Away," which starred Sam Waterson. By 1993, she'd become a story editor for Darren Star's prime time soap opera "Melrose Place," on which she also served as a staff writer. Within two years, Johnson had been promoted to co-producer, and by 1996 would be a supervising producer on the popular drama. She left the show in 1997 to serve as a consulting producer and writer on the crime drama "Profiler." In 2000, she moved on to write for the medical drama "ER," and became a producer on the series by 2001. Her work on the show earned her an Emmy nomination. Having built a solid reputation for writing and producing drama, Johnson has gone on to serve double duty on "Commander in Chief," "Army Wives," "Southland," and "The Good Wife." Her writing on the last earned her a Writers Guild of America Award nomination in 2010.
