Geoff Paine is an Australian actor of television and the stage, best known to Aussie audiences for his role as Clive Gibbons on the long-running soap opera "Neighbors," a BBC-produced series that's set in a fictional Melbourne suburb. Paine was recruited for the role straight out of acting school. He inaugurated the character of Gibbons in 1986, just a year after the series began. Gibbons was a quintessentially quirky character who ran a "gorilla-gram" agency, among other wacky schemes, and who went in and out of romances. Paine appeared in over 150 episodes in just a little more than a year before leaving the series, though he returned to make 15 more in 1989. In the 1990s, Paine had a recurring part on the crime-drama "Blue Heelers," and during the 2000s his most notable TV gig was as a member of the lead ensemble on the comedy "Very Small Business." Outside of television, Paine performs in numerous stage productions, does improv, and writes for the stage. His most significant film work, among a short list of credits, includes his supporting parts in the 1999 comedy "The Craic"--which co-starred former Men at Work front man Colin Hay--and the 2010 comedy-drama "The Wedding Party."
