An imposing stage veteran from San Francisco, George Pauncefort had appeared on Broadway opposite the legendary John Drew in Gay Lord Quex prior to entering films in 1915. Busiest in the late 1910s and early '20s, Pauncefort usually played men of distinction, lawyers, clergymen, or millionaire fathers. He returned to the stage full-time in 1925 but was back in front of the cameras as a "dress extra" ten years later. Pauncefort's last film was Joan Crawford's A Woman's Face, in which he was one of the party guests.
