Joe Sachs is a doctor who became involved on the long-running hit show "ER" as a medical advisor halfway through the first season, and he guest-starred as an actor on the show in the first season episode, "Motherhood." Sachs's first episode as a writer for "ER" was "A Shift in the Night" in 1996 for season two, and in season three he wrote the story for the episode "Make a Wish." In the fifth season, Sachs became the story editor for the show and continued to write episodes for the sixth season, when he gave up his role as technical advisor. By the 11th season, Sachs had become a supervising producer for "ER." He was made co-executive producer for the 13th season, and was finally made executive producer for the 14th season. Sachs was nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award, along with co-writer Walon Green, for writing the episode "Exodus."
