Born March 5, 1970, in Queens, NY, John Frusciante is an American musician. At the age of 11, Frusciante began studying guitarists such as Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa. Frusciante moved to Los Angeles to develop his musicianship and began taking classes at the Guitar Institute of Technology. Frusciante discovered the Red Hot Chili Peppers around 1984 and familiarized himself with all of the guitar and bass parts from their first three records. In 1988, Frusciante jammed with former Dead Kennedys drummer D. H. Peligro and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea. Later, due to his intimate knowledge of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' repertoire, Frusciante was accepted into the band. On May 7, 1992, after being blindsided by fame, Frusciante told his bandmates that he was leaving the band. In 1993, Frusciante briefly performed with the band P. In 1994, Frusciante released his first solo album, "Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt." In early 1998, the Red Hot Chili Peppers asked Frusciante to rejoin the band. In 2001, Frusciante began recording his fourth album with Red Hot Chili Peppers. Frusciante released his fourth full-length solo album on February 24, 2004. After leaving the Red Hot Chili Peppers on July 29, 2009, Frusciante focused on making electronic music. On November 24, 2015, Frusciante announced that he was releasing free unreleased songs dating from 2008 to 2013. On December 15, 2019, the Red Hot Chili Peppers announced that John Frusciante had rejoined the band.
