A minute-and-a-half long song with an unbroadcastable title was largely responsible for putting Claudia Alexandra Feliciano, the Latina artist who recorded as Snow tha Product, on the map. Before the breakout success of "Holy S--t," the young rapper/writer had pursued music for most of her life. Born to Mexican immigrants in San Jose, CA, she gave her first performances with her grandfather's mariachi band at age six. She began rapping as a teenager, taking her stage name from a love for fairy tale princess Snow White and adding "tha Product" as a way of keeping herself down-to-earth. At 19 she dropped out of San Diego Mesa College, where she'd studied social work, to follow her music career. An early mixtape caught the attention of Mexican artist Jaime Kohen, who had her guest on the song "Alguien," a Mexican hit. Soon afterward she moved to Fort Worth, released the mixtape Good Nights and Bad Mornings, and earned comparisons to M.I.A. and Iggy Azalea. Her first indie album, Unorthodox, came in 2011 and spawned the single "Drunk Love," which earned a million YouTube views. "Holy S--t" came next and got even more of a buzz, thanks to 50 Cent who shared it on his ThisIs50.com site. She signed to Atlantic afterwards, but rather than release a major-label debut she did three further mixtapes, Good Nights & Bad Mornings, Good Nights & Bad Mornings 2, and The Rest Comes Later. While her raps were generally not political, she launched a YouTube channel, Woke Wednesdays, which commented on issues large and small-ranging from Arizona's controversial law allowing police broader powers to stop people they believe to be illegal, to how ants organize themselves. Woke was also the name of her custom clothing line, which was launched in 2014. 2016 brought her Halfway There Tour, tying in with her Atlantic debut, the EP Half Way There, Part 1, which included guest appearances by PnB Rock, Ohana Bam and W. Darling.
