Birthday: Mar 13, 1991

Birthplace: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Born in Toronto, Canada in 1991, Tristan Thompson was tall and athletic growing up. After his freshman year in Canada, he transferred to Saint Benedict's Preparatory School in New Jersey for his sophomore, and part of his junior year before finishing his high school career at Findlay Preparatory School in Henderson, Nevada. The team won National Championships in both of Thompson's years there. During his mandatory year of college, Thompson led the University of Texas at Austin basketball team to a 28-8 record and a top ten ranking. He left after his freshman year to enter the 2011 NBA draft and was picked fourth overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. His first three seasons were workmanlike, averaging nearly a double double in points and rebounds. Before the start of the 2014-2015 season, the Cavaliers acquired All Stars LeBron James and Kevin Love and Thompson transitioned to a back up role. The team immediately contended for the NBA Championship, losing to the Golden State Warriors. The next season, the Cavaliers won the NBA Championship, beating the Warriors. In 2016, Thompson began to appear in tabloid headlines when he began a relationship with media personality Khloé Kardashian. In the middle of the 2016-2017 season, Thompson's streak of 447 consecutive games played came to an end when he was forced to sit out with a sprained thumb. The Cavaliers would end that season, as well as the 2017-2018 season, losing to the Warriors in the NBA Finals. There was also more drama than normal in his personal life when Kardashian gave birth to their daughter, then ended the relationship after she discovered his infidelity. The next year saw the departure of James from the Cavaliers, resulting in career high numbers for Thompson. In January, 2023 Thompson was suspended for 25 games without pay after violating the NBA's anti-drug program.
