47 Meters Down: Uncaged may not be as ruthlessly efficient as its finned villains, but fans of shark peril thrillers should find it just chummy enough. Read critic reviews

Mar 12, 2020Incredibly disappointing, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged has none of the intensity or terror of the original. When four high school girls explore an underwater cavern they end up getting trapped inside with several sharks. The plot is extremely contrived and just gets more outlandish as it goes on. None of the actors are very good, and it's hard to distinguish who's who among all the scuba gear and screaming. And the shark attacks are just ridiculous (feeling more like a slasher villain that randomly pops out of nowhere). 47 Meters Down: Uncaged is a cheesy, low-budget horror film that doesn't deliver any scares.Dann M Super Reviewer

Dec 28, 2019Rare is the shark movie that actually tries, and for that, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged deserves ample credit. The shark effect quality varies wildly, but when it's good, it's really good (shame one of the not good times was the first time you see one). About as much originality as you can get out of this genre, but even with all that said, Uncaged still can't manage to cross that threshold into "good". It fails to suspend disbelief, doesn't have characters you can care about, and isn't very well acted. It rises above a lot of modern-day shark movies, but it doesn't rise above many movies in a more general sense.Gimly M Super Reviewer
