London-based filmmaker Michael Cacoyannis immediately heads to his home of Cyprus -- an island located east of Greece -- after hearing of the July 1974 Turkish army invasion. Thousands of Greeks are sent to displacement camps, while thousands more die senselessly. With a cameraman and sound engineer as his lone crew, Cacoyannis travels the island interviewing victims, refugees and politicians to piece together the real story behind the violent tragedy.

04/07/2009 A reasonably good documentary of the dramatic events in Cyprus '74, from the Greek Cypriot perspective... See more 08/14/2008 A docu-wrath,Cacoyannis could have done more exploiting his material instead of giving space to the immigrant distraction, the Cypriot breakdown in other words after a foreign conspiratory circle of events.Very interesting after the primary part. See more 10/14/2007 This is definitely more a piece of propaganda than a true documentary, but it is invaluable for dealing with the Turkish invasion on Cyprus in 1974. More than 30 years later, Cyprus is still dealing with the fallout of this brutal invasion that left thousands dead. See more 09/22/2006 I didn't like this film. See more Read all reviews
