Gisele B 07/03/2024 This is practically a hoax. I guess the book this "documentary" is based on supports the demented theory, which is pure unsupported speculation. The scholars featured read facts from tea-leaves, connect people named Flavio/a as all being part of the conspiracy because they are called Flavio/a, ignore that the Romans crucified Jesus as a criminal and horribly tortured the first Christians, save themselves any and all analysis of the actual Gospels, have no texts whatsoever to prove anything at all ,whilst decrying the lack of historicity of the Gospels, don't even mention Paul ( executed by the Romans ) and concoct a ridiculous theory whose shallowness leaves out all we know about the Gospels as well as the mighty real scholarship of true experts. The heavy reliance on Josephus as a "proves-all" source is misguided. Yes, historical evidence is hard to come by in the literary sources, but why would Romans create four ( or many more) Gospels that contradict each other? Which Flavians of very different literacy levels were allegedly occupied with writing the Christian Gospels between, say, the 60 AD and 100 AD? Finally, the "mythicist" claim - that Jesus didn't exist and was invented - is shot by actual written testimony from Roman historians like Tacitus. The mind boggling fact that so many lay people liked this absurd concoction only shows ignorance, a blind religious hunger for anything ( anything!) to do with Jesus or, to the contrary, seek to affirm their own "mythicist" credo ,and a penchant for believing the most outrageous fiction. Worrisome. See more 12/04/2012 I guess it really IS the end times. Y'know, according to the Fatima prophesy, Benedict XVI is the second-to-last pope. This film is very well edited and the interviews were well lit, etcetera, etc... But it really needs to be said that the producers leave the viewer to reflect on the implications of this discovery, yet it doesn't seem to promote an agenda. Most docs of this nature push a fanatical bend that not only turns off viewers but makes that filmmaker look like a nut. Caesar's Messiah is decidedly non-nutty and Joseph Atwill presents his findings in a clear fashion which doesn't have a 'I HAZ DA TROOTH!!' feel about it. I'm glad someone finally found this out. The sad thing is that it's been in plain sight this whole time. See more Read all reviews
