Young Chicken Little (Zach Braff) throws his small town into panic by claiming the sky is falling. Unable to find the piece of "sky" that hit him, he earns the town's scorn. A year later, outcast Little tries to redeem himself by joining the baseball team, helping to win a crucial game. • Animation fans will find this worth the wait, though apparently there's no story-generating software that can tap into the dark recesses of a child's psyche as cannily as Uncle Walt once did.

  • Beyond a cheeky, twisty bit of genre-tinkering, there's more here for the under-tens than over-, but it's still charming, amusing and energetic enough to win you over.

  • Truly there's no sense of calm to the film, which feels as if it's been assembled with the manic energy of a preschooler trying to fit square-shaped plastic toys into circle-shaped holes.

  • Line by line, scene by scene, visual gag by visual gag, this picture is disappointing: underpowered and dull, even for kids.

  • Only a singularly subversive sidekick, a Streisand-obsessed porker (Zahn), makes this movie stand out from a host of other mediocre animated kids' flicks.

  • Alas, no amount of pop-culture in-jokes and cutesy characters can conceal the fact there isn't enough story to sustain a film even of this limited duration.

Audience Reviews for Chicken Little

I guess the sky won't be falling anymore after all the weirdness this Chicken Little have done. Disney should've done better on the story while they were making way for their first CGI film.

Utter Disney failure, I don't even see the point of having this film being released. It's an animal farm+ cry wolf kinda story that involves ALIENS for no apparent reasons. The jokes were not funny at all, animation was ugly, characterisation failed, there was no development, only pure stupidity

I loved this as a kid, but now its stupid. Dumb story, animation, and voice acting. On the posotive this movie is funny and the characters are fun.

Chicken Little tries entirely too hard to emulate what makes both Pixar and DreamWorks animated pictures successful: pop culture references tying into the overall story. There are a plethora of pop songs-both new and old-on display, though most are terribly obvious (such as "It's the End of the World as We Know It" when an alien invasion begins). The characters are similarly obvious, stereotypes all. The misunderstood youngster. The adults who don't listen. The bullies. The over confident ones. And so on. The animation is just fine, as it usually is, even if the flashy pyrotechnics are unable to make the tired story go down easier. Despite all that, I will give the film a point or two for trying to do something with the chicken little story to bring it into the modern age. I'm not wild about the War of the Worlds homage at the end or the other million cliches packed into the sub-90 minute film, however.
