Reminded me of Hal Hartley's The Book of Life - which had Jesus and the devil show up in pre-millennial Manhattan - while translating that film's cool anomie into a fresh, playful, increasingly affecting bonhomie.
A lost opportunity, and the mercifully brief running time suggests the filmmakers know it.
[A] gently whimsical time-travel yarn.
The odd gag does fall flat and Sáez's performance is an acquired taste, but the photography and music are as delightful as the premise of this low-key flight of fancy.
This shoddy time-travel romance never locates a tone which nicely fits with the material.
Delightfully-framed and delicately-shot fantasy, this Spanish fantasy-romance is a joy.
