The content is good and the material they aim to cover is solid, but the interviews are so lacking in quality, the whole thing falls apart. Input from journalists, biographers and most of the people involved with the 'original' Mothers of Invention (with the obvious absence of Frank). Rare footage and interviews with band members that still have a love for what they created. Now to dig through my collection and listen to the music all over again with greater insight. See more Apr 15, 2010 A lot of great footage of a very unique, significant, yet often overlooked group of musicians during their formative years in the late 60's. The doc hinges a little too heavy on the speculative opinions of a few music journalists, but I suppose that's how most of these docs work. The interview cilps with original Mothers' drummer/vocalist/trumpeteer/"Cowboy Burt" Jimmy Carl Black were worth the time, though. See more Read all reviews
