The year is 1908, and aging adventurer Sam Longwood (Lee Marvin) and his gang of crooked cowboys have been cheated out of a big score by their own cohort, Jack Colby (Robert Culp). After years of searching, Sam finally tracks Colby down and decides to take revenge against his former accomplice. Sam regroups his old circle of grifters, and they hatch a scheme to get their hands on Colby's fortune; however, nothing seems to go smoothly for these ramshackle scam artists.
