Brenda B. @bstarr Jun 22 This movie shows the plight of women in third world countries; how they are treated as sexual property, with no rights and no protection. It is at times hard to watch. It would have been better entitled “Dog”, as this is what the women are called, and how they are treated. Most dogs are treated better. They are beaten and raped, with no legal rights. The setting is a small African tribal village, where a teenage girl returns home from school for a holiday. She is apparently the first girl/person from the village to leave and go to the city for school. She was apparently too young to be of interest to the men when she left. But she returns as a mature teen and quickly becomes of interest to one of the villagers. She doesn’t realize until it is too late that the customs of her village offer her no protection to refuse, and return to school. The acting is really good. The story is simple and shallow but sufficient to tell this story. It’s truly eye opening and disturbing. See more Read all reviews
