Powerful melancholic tale is further enhanced by Simone Signoret's mesmerizing performance.
Madame Rosa certainly has good intentions and a great performance from Simone Signoret, but it is an underserved, dated Oscar winner with a thin, predictable plot, an overly sentimental approach and a didactic dialogue that is as subtle as an earthquake.
Simone Signoret is simply superb as Madame Rosa, a former prostitute and inmate of Auschwitz, who now cares for children of other Parisian prostitutes.
Signoret <3
Do yourself a favour. Watch this if you ever get the chance. Its mind-boggling
A very thin plot, more like an impressionist painting. Very truthful and touching, very good directing by Mizrahi.
Pretty good film starring Simone Signet as a retired prostitute who takes care of the children of prostitutes. She has a good relationship with the oldest child, an Arab who want to know about his parents. Signet is excellent, and the child actor also gives a very nice performance. However, itâs a bit too long and some scenes drag on. But itâs still a nice character study and an interesting story.
One of my favorites; warm, funny, touching, French movie about prostitute's children living together in multi-cultural Paris. Great acting by Simone Signoret.
The magnificent Simone Signoret gives the performance of her life in this Oscar-winning drama.
Le dernier film de Simone Signoret.
