Critics Consensus

Taking an icky conceit and twisting it to deviously crowd-pleasing ends, Obsession is dauntingly disturbing while also skillfully amusing and thrilling.

Audience Says

We’re obsessed with Inde Navarrette in Obsession, a creatively grotesque -- and at times darkly funny -- horror film that cements Curry Barker as a filmmaker to watch.

These nuances are beautifully conveyed by Navarrette, a fearless actor with extraordinary physical and vocal control... This is quite simply a star-making performance. Go to Full Review

The wildly entertaining second feature from the film-maker Curry Barker is the latest addition to the subgenre of evil-artefact horror. Go to Full Review

[Inde Navarrette's] turn as odiously enchanted Nikki is hypnotizing and revolting in equal measure... A devilish delight. Go to Full Review

This movie hits on writing. It hits on directing. And it has at its center an unforgettable horror performance, -- scratch that-- an unforgettable performance, period, that is really worth checking out. Go to Full Review

An uncomfortable, twisted, and visually hypnotic film that solidifies Curry Barker not just as a promising talent, but as a force to be reckoned with in contemporary horror. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Tiffany 1h Such an intense creepy good horror movie! The actors were great! Some good loud startling moments that were perfect! Great movie highly recommend! See more Michael S 1h It was a decent attempt. This new filmmaker has a voice that demands to be heard, but I certainly didnt get the hype for this one. I was mostly annoyed and ready to walk out multiple times. Kept hoping it would get better but it didnt. The lead actress did a solid job and am looking forward to seeing more of her. But overall, this might play well with the teens, but for this child of the 80s, not so much. Pass. See more Mercedi 1h By far the best horror movie this year See more Houston 2h Scariest movie of the year so far See more obamaspotify 2h Amazing movie. Normally I don’t get scared easily but jeez this one got me! See more Nathan 2h I really liked how there was always something to be scared of happening. One of the scariest films I’ve ever seen and actually enjoyed watching. See more Read all reviews
