Blake- N @RT32589154 Apr 9 Oz the Great and Powerful is a decent and visually impressive entry into the Wizard of Oz universe, even if it doesn’t fully reach its magical potential. The film shines the most in its stunning visuals and colorful world-building, which really capture the wonder of Oz in a way that feels larger than life. James Franco delivers a solid performance as the flawed magician who slowly grows into a more responsible figure, and the supporting characters—especially the witches—add charm and personality to the story. The movie does a good job of expanding the mythology of Oz, giving us a fresh prequel-style perspective. However, the story can feel a bit predictable and the emotional depth doesn’t always hit as hard as it should. Some pacing issues also hold it back from being truly great. Overall, it’s an enjoyable fantasy adventure that looks fantastic, even if it lacks strong storytelling depth. A solid 6/10. See more Carson P @Parkerdean Mar 9 Thank god wicked exists because that was the true wizard of oz prequel we needed because this godawful mess with James Franco on the other hand ranks as me of the absolute worst with bad acting from almost everyone especially James Franco he was so unlikeable in the film he had no charisma at all and the color panterns are over saturated this is everything wrong with prequels and Sam raimi was the wrong choice to make it at least it was nice to see a film start out black and white then open to color that’s the only saving grace of this otherwise worthless film don’t bother with it and watch wicked duology instead See more Brigid P @Brigideliz Jan 31 The costuming is gorgeous.
