Mike M @RT59071784 09/01/2010 Turner is an artist with a strong voice; the problem is that it's so relentless. For "Perestroika"'s two hours, we're subjected to a seemingly endless sub-Emin confessional, delivered in the director's gratingly neurotic, passive-aggressive tones... It's as a snowy visual narrative - a procession of scenes-from-a-carriage that pass like days you'd rather forget - that the film proves more engaging, yet even here Turner is prone to the slow-motion, skipped-frame cliches of video art. There's really little attempt to engage with the great Russian landscape - "Perestroika" is only ever passing through - and somehow the camera always finds its way back to the artist's reflection in the train window.
