Movie Info

This British/Romanian co-production is based upon the legendary allegation that a woman disguised as a man was able to ascend to the papacy between the reigns of 9th century popes Leo IV and Benedict III. Set in modern times, the story centers on a midwestern evangelical preacher who believes herself to be the reincarnation of Pope Joan whose lurid tale is told via flashback.
